Skincare Routine for Overworked Skin | Skin Actives

Sometimes it’s really easy to know when you’ve overdone it. For instance: when you’re working out, if you experience a sharp pain, it’s time to stop immediately. That pain is a signal that you may have overdone it. You are likely to take a couple of days off, check that your shoes are OK, and have some ibuprofen.

\r\n

But what makes some people do exactly the opposite when they experience pain on their skin?

\r\n

Skin that hurts, stings, itches, is inflamed or red is a sign that you must stop and think.

\r\n

There is no way that your skin will “get used” to mistreatment. You will continue to suffer and the irritation will simply get worse, leading to hyperpigmentation, or potentially even scarring.

\r\n

What should you do? First STOP, then think.

\r\n

What Can I Do For My Overworked Skin?

\r\n

Before you do anything else, stop whatever you are doing. This means discontinuing your skin routine for a little bit to give your body a chance to heal, while you get to the bottom of what’s going on.

\r\n

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

\r\n

- “Have I added any new products to my routine?”

\r\n

- “Have I changed my routine recently?”

\r\n

- “Have any of my go-to products been reformulated?”

\r\n

- “Has anything I am using expired?”

\r\n

 What's Causing My Sensitive Skin?

\r\n

Now that you have some time to figure things out, have a look at the products (all of them!*) that you have been using.

\r\n

Take a second look at our founder Dr. Hannah Sivak's posts about how to read an ingredient list. Check all the ingredients for allergenicity. Ingredients like lavender essential oil, tea tree oil, Balsam of Peru, anything containing fragrance could be allergenic and have a higher chance of causing a reaction with your skin.

How To Repair Red, Irritated and Damaged Skin?

\r\n

Your skin needs a break from whatever was hurting you. In the meantime, you can use a couple of products from Skin Actives that will start repairing your skin barrier and let the nerves reaching your skin stop sending alarm signals.

\r\n

Nourishing Skin Serum with Hemp Extract - We can’t recommend one of our newest products enough. We’ve been trying it out here around the office and to say that the results are dramatic would be an understatement. Skin Nourishing Serum gently feeds your skin with the nutrient-rich power of Squalene, Rosehip, Argan, and Vitamin E Oils. All this with the highest quality CBD isolate!

\r\n

Cleansing Oil - While you are giving your skin a break, you are still going to have to wash your face. Don’t reach for that bar of soap! Our Cleansing Oil is made of rich antioxidants that will scour oxidation while moisturizing with nutrients. Don’t let your skin get more dry and brittle! Don’t be afraid of a little bit of healthy oil.

\r\n

High Potency EGF Spray - Our EGF spray is great for anyone that cant rub or touch that damaged skin. It will help your body in its natural healing process and provide a nice, cooling effect to your skin.

\r\n

Sensitive Skin Cream with Hemp Extract - This moisturizing cream is both light and rich. Your skin will feel so soft and smooth after using this cream without a lot of excess residue. It's a perfect companion to the Nourishing Skin Serum.

\r\n

During this time you can give your skin a few days’ rest and while you do that, work out a new routine dedicated to preserving health. Remember, healthy, hydrated skin is more beautiful and lustrous than anything that acids and abrasives can create! Be kind to yourself and your skin, Skin Actives family, we’ll see you out there.
